
Ubuntu Linux Kernel Engineer - BIOS/Firmware
The Canonical Kernel Team seeks an engineer to own aspects of the boot process, BIOS/UEFI, ACPI (including AML) and other platform firmware components for the Ubuntu Linux kernel. Responsibilities include collaborating with platform vendors and a distributed team, contributing to and maintaining the Firmware Test Suite (FWTS), improving tooling/automation, and submitting/reviewing kernel patches with upstream maintainers. Requires strong C programming, familiarity with ACPI and UEFI, git, and knowledge of the x86 bootstrap process. Ability to travel internationally twice a year. Additional useful skills: Python, Bash, coreboot, packaging and kernel debugging.
