You are a pragmatic software engineer who enjoys solving complex technical problems across multiple products and platforms. You have strong full-stack development experience, thrive when learning unfamiliar systems quickly, and are equally comfortable building new features, modernizing legacy code, and operating software in production. You communicate clearly, collaborate effectively across teams, and embrace AI-assisted development as a force multiplier for engineering productivity.

What You'll Do

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Formstack team, you'll help build, maintain, and operate the Formstack platform.

Your work directly impacts product quality, engineering velocity, operational excellence, and customer satisfaction.

• Design, develop, test, and deploy production-quality software across multiple Formstack applications and shared platform services

• Contribute across frontend and backend codebases, applying strong engineering fundamentals without requiring deep specialization in a single application

• Design and implement improvements that improve reliability, security, maintainability, and engineering velocity

• Own and improve development workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment automation

• Maintain and modernize application dependencies and runtime environments to keep products secure and performant

• Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve complex production issues spanning multiple products and services

• Partner with Platform Engineering, Product, and Customer Support to deliver reliable, secure customer experiences

• Participate in architecture discussions, technical design reviews, and engineering planning

• Mentor other engineers through code reviews, technical guidance, and knowledge sharing

• Leverage AI-powered development tools to improve productivity, quality, and delivery velocity

• Participate in a rotating on-call schedule for production support

What We're Looking For

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience developing and supporting customer-facing SaaS applications

• Strong full-stack development experience with modern web technologies

• Experience working across multiple products or large distributed applications

• Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, including GitHub workflows, automated testing, and CI/CD

• Experience deploying and supporting applications on AWS or similar cloud platforms

• Experience maintaining application dependencies, framework upgrades, and security vulnerability remediation

• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex production issues across application code and distributed systems

• Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills

• Willingness to participate in a rotating on-call schedule

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience

Bonus Points

• Experience with React, JavaScript/TypeScript, PHP, Laravel, Java, and Node.js

• Experience improving GitHub Actions, CI/CD pipelines, or deployment automation

• Experience with Docker or containerized applications

• Experience with observability platforms such as Datadog, Sumo Logic, CloudWatch, or Sentry

• Experience supporting enterprise-scale SaaS platforms

• Experience mentoring engineers, enforcing code quality, and leading technical initiatives

• Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity
