Overview

GitHub and Microsoft's developer AI portfolio, spanning GitHub, Azure AI Foundry, and VS Code, is one of the highest-velocity product areas at Microsoft, shipping the tools and platforms that define how the world builds with AI. The Insights & Product Operations team drives operational excellence across this portfolio, serving as the connective tissue between Product, Engineering, Marketing, Revenue, and Support to make the full launch lifecycle predictable, scalable, and market-ready. We don't just run processes. We build automated systems that make the entire product and Go-to-Market (GTM) machine faster and smarter.

Responsibilities

We are looking for a Senior Product Operations Manager who is equal parts operator and systems thinker. You will drive release operations across our developer AI portfolio, running the rhythms that keep releases on track and driving cross-functional coordination between product, GTM, and engineering teams.

You will also own the strategy and backlog for AI-powered operational systems we're building to make Engineering, Product, Design and GTM teams dramatically more efficient. This is a role for someone who is deeply curious about how product and GTM teams actually work, where friction lives, and why. You understand the landscape of modern AI capabilities well enough to see where they can transform operational workflows at scale. You think in systems, you obsess over the right problems before jumping to solutions, and you know how to translate operational insight into a prioritized roadmap that delivers compounding value over time.

What You'll Do

Release Operations & Launch Readiness

  • Run the release readiness process across the portfolio, driving the operational rhythms and reviews that keep launches on track
  • Drive cross-functional coordination across product, engineering, PMM, and revenue teams, ensuring the right stakeholders are aligned at the right time on launch decisions
  • Define and monitor operational health metrics; use release data, customer signals, and stakeholder input to surface risks, inform decisions, and prioritize improvements
  • Calibrate communications for your audience, whether that's an engineering status update or an executive-facing readiness report, keeping stakeholders informed with clarity and consistency

AI-Powered Operational Systems

  • Drive the automation roadmap for the systems that make EPD and GTM teams faster: AI-powered release tracking, intelligent triage, self-service launch tooling, automated stakeholder reporting, and more
  • Deeply understand how product and GTM teams work today, identify the highest-value opportunities for automation, and define what to build next
  • Maintain and prioritize the backlog for operational automation, working with automation engineers to translate operational insight into shipped solutions
  • Define success metrics for the systems you own, measure adoption and impact, and iterate based on what you learn
  • Stay deeply fluent in modern AI capabilities (LLMs, agents, copilots, automation platforms) so you can identify where they unlock step-function improvements and where they don't

Qualifications

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 6+ years experience in engineering, design, product management, or product/design operations
    • OR 8+ years experience in engineering, design, product management, or product/design operations
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years’ experience in SaaS or cloud platform product development lifecycle environments

  • 3+ years’ experience driving cross-functional coordination across product, engineering, marketing, or revenue stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 10+ years experience in engineering, design, product management, or product/design operations
    • OR 8+ years experience in engineering, design, product management, or product/design operations
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Experience with release management, launch readiness, or go-to-market operations for a multi-product portfolio
  • Experience owning a backlog or roadmap and working with engineers to deliver against it
  • Fluency with modern AI capabilities: you follow developments in LLMs, agents, and AI-powered automation and can distinguish high-value applications from hype
  • Passion for GitHub, developer tools, and the developer ecosystem
