Lead a remote engineering team in your time zone to build clean web service APIs (supporting CLI and web clients) and scalable microservices in Python (Golang optional) for Canonical's software distribution systems (Snap Store, Charmhub). Responsibilities include people management, mentoring, code review, architectural leadership, ensuring testing/quality, performance optimisation, and collaborating with product, architects and security. Role may require travel up to four times a year and is open to candidates in the Americas, Europe, Middle East or Africa time zones.

Work on dqlite and libraft (C library and Go package): design and implement features, debug and fix user issues, improve Jepsen and other HA/stress tests, participate in code and architecture reviews, and engage with the open source community and partners. Requires experience with distributed systems (preferably Raft) and strong C programming; knowledge of concurrency/asynchronous patterns is a plus.

Remote role based in EMEA accountable for the design and development of internal products and leading a team of software engineers working in Golang. Teams include Billing (metrics-to-billing service integrating with payments) and Livepatch (kernel patch delivery); responsibilities include technical leadership, improving processes, developing direct reports, and aligning work to business needs. Occasional international travel (around twice a year) is required.
