Equal Experts is hiring a Data Scientist in South Africa to develop quantitative models and machine learning products, analyse large datasets to inform business decisions, and work in agile teams using CI/CD and MLOps practices. The role requires strong programming (Python preferred), experience with ML frameworks (Scikit-Learn, TensorFlow or similar), SQL, source control (Git), and effective communication with distributed teams and stakeholders.

Role focuses on building and productionising GenAI solutions that leverage LLMs (e.g., GPT series), prompt engineering and prompt chains, model and prompt evaluation, retrieval-augmented generation architectures (vector DBs, embeddings, document chunking), data extraction (e.g., PDFs), and continuous performance monitoring. Requires applying software engineering best practices including CI/CD, testing, ETL/data pipelines, load testing and MLOps to ensure reliability in production.
