We're looking for an experienced Product Manager to lead GitHub's fraud prevention strategy. Fraud prevention is mission-critical to protecting customer trust and GitHub's business integrity.
In this role, you will own product strategy for abuse prevention across various touchpoints on the product from account creation to billing, partnering across engineering, finance, sales, and support to reduce abuse while preserving a low-friction customer experience. You will bring deep expertise in commerce risk systems, fraud prevention, and platform-scale experimentation while shaping durable capabilities used across GitHub Platform & Enterprise.

Responsibilities
- Own the product strategy and roadmap for abuse prevention capabilities in the commerce domain, aligning outcomes to business, customer, and platform goals.
- Lead product initiatives for fraud prevention across account creation and the billing layers, including reducing malicious account signups and strengthening abuse lifecycle controls
- Evaluate and improve tooling for payment fraud prevention
- Partner with engineering, data, and sales to design, launch, and iterate risk prevention systems using measurable success criteria and controlled experiments.
- Establish and monitor product KPIs for risk reduction, customer friction, and operational reliability.
- Drive cross-functional execution across Finance, Legal, Sales, Support, and Go-to-Market teams to ensure policy, operational, and customer impacts are accounted for in product decisions.
- Continuously adapt controls to evolving abuse patterns and attack vectors across the billing and account creation surfaces.
- Translate and communicate complex risk and technical tradeoff decisions into clear prioritized requirements for stakeholders at multiple organizational levels.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications :
- 5+ years’ experience in product/service/project/program management, software development, product design, or related field
- o OR bachelor’s degree in related field AND 3+ years’ experience in product/service/project/program management, software development, product design, or related field
- OR equivalent experience
- 3+ years experience owning payment platforms, fraud, trust and safety, or related integrity-focused product areas in a software or digital platform environment.
- 2+ years experience defining product metrics and running data-informed experimentation to improve risk and customer outcomes.
- 2+ years of Experience collaborating across organizational boundaries to deliver projects that involve complex technical problems.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with payments, billing systems, subscription lifecycle management, and chargeback/dispute workflows
- Experience balancing customer-experience metrics with operational-efficiency targets at scale.
- Experience building scalable risk evaluation and fraud control tools
- Experience partnering with policy, legal, and compliance teams to operationalize risk controls.
- Experience using AI for productivity gains and faster release cycles.
- Passion for GitHub, developers, and building secure, trustworthy platform experiences.
Compensation Range
The base salary range for this job is USD $124,000.00 - USD $329,200.00 /Yr.
These pay ranges are intended to cover roles based across the United States. An individual's base pay depends on various factors including geographical location and review of experience, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant. At GitHub certain roles are eligible for benefits and additional rewards, including annual bonus and stock. These rewards are allocated based on individual impact in role. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee's role.
This position will be open for a minimum of 3 days, with applications accepted on an ongoing basis until the position is filled.
