Senior High Risk Trader Onboarding Analyst
Summary:
The Senior Trader Onboarding Analyst is an operational identity risk subject matter expert within the Trust & Resilience organization, responsible for evaluating complex identity risk profiles, dispositioning high-friction verification exceptions, and enforcing Customer Identification Program (CIP) compliance across global trader pathways.
Operating as a primary risk decision-maker, this role manages the advanced multi-signal identity orchestration platform. You will analyze complex risk telemetry—including biometric integrity, synthetic identity indicators, device/IP anomalies, and multi-jurisdictional tax/legal documentation (W-8/W-9)—where automated logic is inconclusive and standard procedures do not apply. Exercising independent discretion, you will execute binding decisions on low-to-medium risk account eligibility, clear secondary Sanctions alerts, optimize automated Persona verification logic, and manage clean Tier-1 handoffs to your peer, the Senior High Risk Analyst, when elevated threats emerge.
Key Responsibilities
- Advanced Identity Risk Evaluation & Exception Analysis: Exercise independent judgment to analyze multi-variable risk signals within the IDV platform (e.g., biometric manipulation, liveness check failures, device telemetry, cross-border address discrepancies) where automated rules yield ambiguous results.
- Binding Risk Discretion & Account Authorization: Exercise independent authority to grant, conditionally restrict, or deny platform access for low-to-medium risk trader profiles. Evaluate qualitative risk factors against established risk tolerances to execute binding account dispositions without routine manager sign-off.
- Specialized CIP & Tax Compliance Governance: Analyze, interpret, and validate non-routine tax documentation (W-8BEN, W-8BEN-E, W-9) and multi-jurisdictional eligibility records. Determine regulatory compliance and tax residency validity prior to payout authorization.
- Secondary Sanctions & PEP Risk Assessment: Conduct analytical background reviews on secondary Sanctions, PEP, and OFAC screening alerts. Evaluate biographical and contextual data to differentiate benign false positives from genuine regulatory liabilities.
- Tier-1 Escalation & High-Risk Peer Handoff: Evaluate case complexity to identify high-risk indicators (e.g., suspected synthetic identity networks, adverse media, or complex corporate structures). Formulate structured investigative handoffs for Tier-2 escalation to the Senior High Risk Trader Onboarding Analyst.
- IDV Platform Logic & Workflow Optimization: Analyze IDV platform performance, rule efficacy, and false-positive trends. Formulate data-driven recommendations for the Manager and Product teams to adjust automated risk thresholds, auto-pass criteria, and decision trees.
- Peer Consultation & Cross-Functional Alignment: Serve as a technical subject matter expert for peers across operations and Customer Support, providing authoritative interpretation of onboarding SOPs, complex Persona workflows, and edge-case risk scenarios.
- Audit Governance & Risk Rationale Documentation: Formulate and document clear investigative rationales for non-standard case dispositions, establishing defensible risk precedents for internal QA audits and compliance reviews.
Required Qualifications and Key Competencies
- Experience: 2-4 years of direct experience in fintech compliance operations, financial crime, identity risk management, or digital platform onboarding.
- Advanced IDV Competency: Hands-on experience analyzing identity risk signals within modern orchestration platforms (like, Persona, Jumio, Veriff, or Onfido), moving beyond basic document checking to multi-signal risk evaluation.
- Compliance & Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth understanding of CIP/KYC frameworks, global identity document standards, OFAC/Sanctions screening protocols, and international tax documentation requirements (W-8/W-9).
- Exercise of Independent Discretion: Proven track record of exercising sound, independent analytical judgment when evaluating ambiguous risk scenarios where standard operating procedures are non-routine or undefined.
- Process & Logic Analysis: Ability to evaluate operational metrics, identify systemic verification logic vulnerabilities, and formulate actionable workflow optimizations.
- Peer Collaboration & Clear Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of authoring precise investigative summaries and collaborating effectively across remote teams.
