Building the Future of Open Finance
Payward - the parent company behind Kraken, NinjaTrader, Breakout, xStocks, Payward Services and CF Benchmarks - has spent the last 15 years building one of the most modern and globally accessible financial infrastructure platforms in the industry, built to advance an open, global financial system.
Before you apply, we encourage you to explore our culture page to understand what drives us and how we work.
The team
Breakout is a crypto prop trading program that gives skilled traders access to capital, with up to 90% of profits going to the trader. Traders pass a one-step evaluation, then trade funded accounts up to $200K with on-demand profit withdrawals, 24/7.
We're a lean, high-conviction team where every hire genuinely shapes the product. The trading experience is our core competitive surface — it's what traders evaluate us on, stay for, and tell their networks about. This role owns it.
You'll work alongside traders, engineers, and operators who move fast, think rigorously, and hold each other to a high bar. If you want to build the best prop trading terminal in crypto, this is the team.
Reporting directly to the Head of Product, the PM, Prop Trading will own the end-to-end trading experience across Breakout Prop and Kraken Prop — web and mobile.
The opportunity
Drive the trading experience roadmap within your domain — sequencing, requirements, and delivery — in close partnership with the Head of Product
Define what best-in-class prop trading UX looks like: fast, intuitive, and built for serious derivatives traders
Drive execution on near-term priorities and terminal parity with the best in market (Hyperliquid and beyond)
Lead the product strategy for agentic and API trading — giving power users programmatic access to prop capital
Partner with Kraken Pro engineering to build a trading experience that feels native to the crypto ecosystem while serving the specific needs of prop traders
Work closely the risk team to translate execution nuance into product requirements — understanding A-book vs B-book mechanics, drawdown rules, and how they shape UX
Set the bar for what "done" means on trading features — requirements, edge cases, acceptance criteria, and post-ship iteration
What You Bring
Product depth
3-6+ years in senior product management, with significant time owning a trading or execution product
Deep understanding of derivatives trading — perps, futures, margin, leverage, order types, risk parameters
Experience building for professional or semi-professional traders who have high expectations and low tolerance for friction
Track record of shipping complex, technically demanding features end-to-end with high quality
Ability to write detailed, unambiguous product requirements that engineers can act on without constant clarification
Strong opinions on trading UX — you've used the best terminals out there and you know what good looks like
Technical fluency
Comfortable in the technical weeds — you can read API docs, understand data contracts, and have an informed opinion on architectural tradeoffs
Experience working on products with real-time data requirements (streaming prices, live P&L, order state)
Familiarity with trading infrastructure concepts — order routing, execution layers, risk engines, position monitoring
Bonus: experience with agentic workflows, algorithmic trading, or API-first product design
Leadership & craft
Senior enough to own a domain with minimal direction — you set the agenda, you don't wait for one
Strong written communicator — your PRDs, tickets, and async updates are clear and complete
Experience working across multiple engineering teams and navigating cross-functional dependencies
Trader empathy — you understand what it feels like to have a position open and need the product to work perfectly
Crypto-native or deeply curious — you understand the space, the culture, and why prop trading matters here
