What will the work look like for me?

We are currently seeking a Scrum Master to join our IT team which focuses on working with our internal customers at Daktronics. This team typically focuses on a variety of responsibilities in support of our project and IT agile development teams.The scrum master is empowered to guide and ensure that the SAFe IT development processes are understood and adhered to by all participating team members, both within and outside of IT. And in the spirit of continuous improvement, maintaining a keen awareness of opportunities to improve any part of any process within our SAFe implementation will be an exciting and integral part of this role.

This role requires strong collaboration skills to successfully help the team to communicate, coordinate and collaborate. Another key aspect is to communicate dependencies with other teams on the Agile Release Train (ART).

As a scrum master in our Information Technology team, you will be asked to:

  • Organize and manage various Scrum ceremonies, such as scheduling sessions, facilitating standups, grooming the backlog, storytelling, sprint retrospectives, planning, and demos.
  • Guide teams toward achieving their delivery objectives.
  • Conduct regular health checks for the team.
  • Support and coordinate tasks within the team and with other teams, ensuring adherence to agreed Scrum processes and rules.
  • Identify and address risks, impediments, and roadblocks for the team, escalating when necessary.
  • Lead activities focused on continuous improvement.
  • Facilitate the estimation and sizing of user stories.
  • Communicate updates from the team to the scrum-of-scrums and negotiate for additional resources when needed.
  • Lead the team through program increment planning.
  • Ensure all team members follow Scrum processes.
  • Work closely with the Product Owner to ensure user stories are clear and actionable for the development team.
  • Share information with different stakeholder groups, addressing their unique perspectives.
  • Provide clarity regarding task assignments and team capacity.
  • Promote continuous improvement by solving problems and implementing effective countermeasures.

Where is this opportunity located?

Daktronics offers the flexibility to work from a U.S. home or Daktronics location. This opportunity is open to U.S. based candidates. Exact working hours are flexible, but this position will typically be based on working during regular business hours in the Central time zone.

What are the pay and perks?

The typical hiring range for this position is $75,000 to $90,000 annually. The actual offer will consider a wide range of factors, including relevant education, experiences, location, and applicable local legislation.

Qualifications

To be considered for Scrum Master, we require the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or technical field.
  • Two-five (2-5) years experience leading more than one scrum team.
  • Effective communication skills, including the ability to clarify expectations and lead a cross-functional group of people ​to achieve.
  • Demonstrated process flow understanding and experience in root cause analysis, along with lean problem-solving tools​.
  • Continued willingness and desire to learn and be flexible with an evolving workload.​
  • Strong self-motivation and ability to work independently or collaboratively on a team.
  • Ability to present ideas to a broad audience that can be easily understood.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to demonstrate collaboration with others and effective relationship development.
  • Experience working in a team environment using Agile methodologies is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Daktronics development processes is preferred along with experience with Azure DevOps.
  • Effectively exercise discretion and independent judgment.
  • Fluent in English, written and verbal.
