As the Assistant Controller, Revenue, you'll join Coinbase's Accounting team within Finance to own all aspects of revenue recognition across a complex and rapidly expanding suite of crypto products. What you'll do:
  • Own end-to-end revenue recognition for complex crypto-native transactions, including spot trading fees, staking rewards, and institutional product lines, ensuring compliance with ASC 606/IFRS 15 and company policies.
  • Lead month-end and quarter-end close processes for revenue, including journal entries, reconciliations, variance analysis, and timely financial reporting.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Data, and Legal teams to determine proper revenue accounting treatment for new product launches before they go live.
  • Build and scale revenue accounting processes, internal controls, and SOX-compliant frameworks to keep pace with Coinbase's growth.
  • Drive improvements to revenue systems and automation by leveraging blockchain data and modern tooling to increase accuracy and reduce manual effort.
  • Strengthen the Revenue team through hands-on mentorship, cross-departmental collaboration, and development of junior team members.

Required Skills and Experience:
  • 13+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years directly focused on revenue recognition (ASC 606/IFRS 15) within a financial institution, fintech, or publicly traded technology company.
  • Direct people management experience
  • CPA designation with demonstrated ability to interpret and apply complex accounting guidance to novel business models, particularly in digital assets or emerging industries.
  • Hands-on experience implementing and monitoring SOX-compliant internal controls over revenue cycles at a publicly traded company.

  • Track record of managing and developing accounting teams while partnering cross-functionally with Finance, Product, and Engineering leadership.
