Director, Content Marketing & Strategy

ActiveCampaign
United States
As ActiveCampaign’s Director, Content Marketing & Strategy, you’ll manage the team responsible for creating compelling content that attracts new audiences, converts people into customers, and supports the overall customer lifecycle. Your team’s work will include original research that advances ActiveCampaign’s market positioning, content that drives results in organic search, and content that supports acquisition, onboarding, and expansion initiatives.

You’ll join a company with a library of traffic-generating content and an appetite to invest in content strategy and design. Today, the bulk of content-related traffic comes from ActiveCampaign’s blog; but you’ll expand content to move beyond the blog as the primary content channel. This isn’t your typical lead gen, gated content role; you’ll play a role in content that touches the entire customer lifecycle.

What your day could consist of:

    • Manage the creation of original content of various types (e.g., original research, thought leadership articles, blog posts, long-form assets, videos, website copy etc.)
    • Execute big-picture original research projects, launching marquees content with first-party data
    • Create and manage an editorial calendar with content targeted at multiple funnel stages
    • Work with writers to edit and give feedback on their work
    • Aligning content to ActiveCampaign’s annual plan, campaign strategies, and external communication strategies
    • Developing compelling content that is personalized to key audiences for ActiveCampaign
    • Collaborate with key stakeholders across Marketing, Sales, Customer Success, and Product teams and other team members to produce high-quality content to achieve growth objectives
    • Manage external freelancers and agencies to accelerate the pace of shipped work
    • Measurement and optimization of content marketing efforts on a regular, ongoing basis

What is needed:

    • 10+ years of marketing experience, 6+ of which is content marketing and strategy experience, preferably in a high-growth environment.
    • Experience with a wide range of content formats produced for both organic and non-organic purposes. You probably have experience with SEO content, editorial content, and multimedia (podcasts/video).
    • Excellent writer and even stronger editor. You can take a writer’s work and hone in on exactly the elements that need to change, then deliver that feedback in a way that helps the writer improve their work for next time.
    • Love for storytelling and matching content to specific stages of a customer’s purchase process
    • Ability to articulate visual needs and brainstorm ideas with photo editors, graphic designers, and video producers to create content with a strong visual impact
    • Updating voice and tone guidelines to make sure that ActiveCampaign presents similarly across all of its platforms
    • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to create/manage an editorial calendar and report on the results of content marketing
    • Experience with Craft CMS, Adobe Analytics, Asana, and other content marketing-related systems is a plus
$187,200 - $228,800 a year
