JOB SUMMARY
We're looking for a forward-thinking Digital Accountant to join Storyblok's Finance team. This role is built for someone who loves accounting AND technology. Someone excited to work on AI-assisted, data-heavy projects and help us reimagine what modern finance looks like at a fast-growing SaaS company. You'll own core AP and GL processes while actively contributing to automation, tooling, and process innovation initiatives.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Vendor Management & AP, P2P Processing
- Maintain accurate vendor master data and manage the full vendor onboarding process.
- Handle vendor requests, portals, and communications in a timely and professional manner.
- Oversee end-to-end accounts payable operations, including invoice processing and procure-to-pay workflows.
Payment Proposals & Processing
- Prepare and process payment proposals, ensuring accuracy and timely execution.
- Manage foreign currency payments and apply foreign currency valuation principles.
- Maintain a strong understanding of provisions and payment terms across entities.
Bank Reconciliation
- Perform regular bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies proactively.
- Coordinate and evaluate balance sheet accounts, managing reconciliations and provisions with accuracy.
- Support monthly financial statement preparation through ongoing bookkeeping and accrual accounting.
VAT Compliance & Financial Reporting
- Maintain a strong focus on VAT compliance across European and UK entities, ensuring all tax regulations are met and properly documented.
- Handle accrual accounting, amortizations, and foreign currency valuation.
- Assist in preparing and analyzing year-end financial statements, contributing to audit readiness and overall financial compliance.
- Participate in finance projects to enhance and streamline processes, keeping documentation up to date.
Yokoy / Zip Credit Card Processes
- Support and manage Yokoy and Zip credit card processes, ensuring proper coding, approvals, and reconciliation.
- Act as a point of contact for employees on expense and credit card policy questions.
- Drive process improvements and maintain documentation for credit card workflows.
Digital & AI-Driven Accounting Projects
- Actively participate in and lead data-heavy, technology-focused accounting initiatives.
- Work with AI and automation tools to streamline reconciliation, reporting, and compliance workflows.
- Collaborate with the wider Finance and Engineering teams to evaluate and implement new financial tools.
- Document processes and help train team members on updated systems and workflows.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in a similar role, ideally in a SaaS or international environment with a focus on AP and VAT.
- Austrian Bilanzbuchhalter qualification (or active willingness to obtain it) strongly preferred.
- Excellent knowledge of per diem and reimbursement regulations across multiple countries.
- Working experience with bookkeeping, including payroll and/or business expenses.
- Hands-on experience with AP, P2P, and business expense tools such as Yokoy, Concur, or Expensify.
- Proficient in NetSuite and advanced Excel / Google Sheets.
- Strong understanding of VAT regulations and cross-border tax considerations.
SKILLS
- Strong affinity for technology and software; first ERP experience required (NetSuite, SAP, or Dynamics).
- Highly organized with excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Solid decision-making skills and the ability to assess multiple options and identify the best course of action.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- International mindset with strong English communication and writing skills; German is a strong plus.
- Enjoys training and walking team members through processes and tools.
- Good project management skills and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrates AI literacy, with the ability to leverage AI tools to enhance productivity, decision-making, and quality of work while applying sound judgment and critical thinking.
The employment is in accordance with the collective salary and wage agreement for employees of “Angestellte von Unternehmen im Bereich Dienstleistungen in der automatischen Datenverarbeitung und Informationstechnik” ST1 Einstiegsstufe (starting with 45,738 EUR/year). We offer a higher compensation depending on your experience and skills.
