IT Applications Engineer II

Articulate
United States
Software engineers on the IT applications team design, maintain, and support a variety of customer facing and internal software systems and integrations that help power the Articulate ecosystem. The business applications team owns e-commerce, product activation and billing middleware, aspects of the marketing and community websites, manual/automated integration testing along with a variety of internal and external API integrations with our accounting, finance, people, and product engineering teams.

You’ll work primarily with JavaScript and Ruby on Rails within our bespoke applications and implement integrations and program plugins in other languages as required by the integrating systems. The ideal candidate will have professional experience in at least one web-oriented programming language with exposure to or interest in learning others. What You'll Do:

    • Develop a broad understanding of software integrations including expertise in one or more core business applications and frameworks.
    • Own the full lifecycle of small-to-medium tasks, including design, development, testing, and support, iterating on processes as needed.
    • Independently identify and implement solutions to recurring problems with limited guidance from senior engineers.
    • Deliver features or fixes on schedule while ensuring scalability and performance meet established benchmarks.
    • Regularly review and provide constructive feedback on team projects to enhance collective learning and quality.
    • Conduct thorough unit testing and collaborate with quality assurance engineers to identify and fix software defects.
    • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for software components and processes and provide training to internal teams as needed.
    • Assist support and operations teams in triaging and resolving production issues, including participating in on-call rotation.
    • Participate in agile development processes and contribute to sprint planning and reviews.

What You Should Have:

    • 2+ years professional experience building full stack web applications.
    • Experience working with JavaScript and web technologies.
    • Experience working with front-end frameworks and tools (e.g. React/Redux, SASS)
    • Experience with database tools and languages (SQL, key-value stores, etc.).
    • Experience thinking, planning, and executing autonomously and as part of a team.
    • Experience working with cross-functional team members.
    • You have a bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent training, fellowship, or work experience.

Nice to Haves:

    • Experience with WordPress
    • Familiarity with Amazon Web Services integrations
