What you'll do:
- Partner with Product and Design to refine growth opportunities into well-scoped experiments and features, then lead the engineering team in executing and learning from them.
- Lead by example by contributing to critical PRs, prototypes, A/B tests, and production debugging. Uphold high design and review standards.
- Ensure experiments and features are instrumented for measurement, partnering with Analytics to interpret results and apply learnings.
- Dig into product and customer data to validate ideas, understand user behavior, and identify new opportunities.
- Effectively manage the team’s roadmap, delegate ownership with clear decision boundaries, and hold the team accountable for quality, timelines, and outcomes. Provide transparent updates to partners along the way.
- Coach, hire, and retain a high-performing, diverse engineering team. Run weekly 1:1s, provide actionable feedback, and foster career growth.
- Partner with other engineering teams, peer EMs, and cross-functional leaders to deliver cross-team initiatives, while evolving practices, raising the hiring bar, and sharing best practices.
- Optimize processes and remove impediments to sustain velocity, quality, and reliability.
- Support partner teams in triaging and resolving production issues, including participating in on-call rotation.
What you should have:
- Demonstrated success delivering growth-focused product features and experiments that drove measurable impact on acquisition, activation, retention, or expansion.
- Ability to work with data at multiple levels: partner effectively with Analytics to frame hypotheses and interpret results, and dig in directly with SQL or logs when needed.
- Hands-on experience with TypeScript, React, and Node.js in the context of delivering scalable, user-facing applications.
- 3+ years of engineering management experience leading high-functioning teams, with a track record of coaching across levels, giving direct and empathetic feedback, addressing underperformance, and supporting growth through fair, evidence-based promotions.
- Strong computer science fundamentals applied at scale, backed by a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field—or equivalent practical experience.
- Excellent communication skills, translating complex technical concepts to cross-functional partners and leading difficult conversations constructively.
- Enthusiasm for experimentation, data-informed decision making, and building products that drive meaningful customer and business outcomes.
Nice to haves
- Experience working in a B2B or B2C SaaS context, ideally with exposure to enterprise and expansion motions.
- Familiarity with experimentation platforms, analytics tools, or growth-focused development practices.
- Experience leading projects where hypotheses were tested through rapid iteration, experimentation frameworks, or funnel optimization.
- Experience applying AI or machine learning in a growth context.
