User Research Assistant Worldwide

We’re looking for a UX Research Assistant to support our growing research practice. This role will primarily support Nexus IQ Server and Nexus Repository Manager, working with researchers, designers, and product owners. The UX Research Assistant will focus on managing research session logistics, and assist in research session moderation, note-taking, and analysis. As a member of the User Research group, you will have opportunities to be involved with UX research planning, writing, program management, and producing if desired. This position has growth potential into the User Researcher role given strong performance during the annual review.

Useful knowledge/skills include: Research Study Logistics

    • Creating screening surveys to ensure participants meet study criteria
    • Ensuring participants are prepared for sessions with study details
    • Managing study session logistics for remote calls (video, audio, and chat communication)

Useful knowledge/skills include: Research Session Assistance

    • Note-taking in research sessions
    • Moderating external and internal research sessions, such as leading focus groups, affinity diagramming, usability testing, and customer interviews
    • Documenting processes and research session results

Useful knowledge/skills include: Project and Data Management

    • Managing calendars, timelines, scheduling details, and logistics for multiple research studies
    • Working cross-functionally while focusing on project completion and follow-up

Experience and Competencies

    • Currently pursuing or recently completed a B.S./B.A. (Preferred: Business, Human Factors, Psychology, HCI, Computer Science)  or equivalent experience in a relevant field
    • Experience as a lab manager, research coordinator, research assistant
    • Basic knowledge of UX and UX research sessions or a desire to learn
    • Experience using spreadsheets (such as Excel and Google Sheets) for data organization
    • Ability to work independently, managing time and projects through prioritization
    • Ability to adapt to changing schedules and multiple projects  

Nice to have

    • Currently pursuing a MA, MS, or PhD and graduating in 2019, or 2020 with a B.S./B.A. (Preferred: Business, Human Factors, Psychology, HCI, Computer Science)  or equivalent experience in a relevant field
    • Interest in process improvement, such as increasing research processes and team productivity
    • Experience or interest in research moderation
    • Experience with Sonatype products and/or recruiting developers and DevOps professionals
    • Experience with Agile organizations
