About the job

This position is needed to provide technical leadership to the hands-on operational team responsible for design, implementation and management of our datacenter footprint across the US and EU. We are building a world-class platform to enable Twilio’s developers to quickly deploy reliable, scalable, and secure products to Twilio customers. As Twilio continues to grow, the team is leading the expansion of our datacenter footprint across the globe.


In this role, you’ll:

  • Provide the technical leadership across the team and help organise and prioritise the teams work
  • Develop the blueprints and technical documentation for projects within the team
  • Identify and drive areas of improvement within our Data center management practices.
  • Participate in the creation and delivery of Yearly planning Goals for the team
  • Own the engineering quality and operational maturity standards for the team
  • Foster an inclusive environment and imports team members to succeed and grow.

  • Experience leading large scale datacenter projects & infrastructure rollouts
  • Hands-on operational experience in a data center facility.  Installation of equipment in racks, attaching connections to power and network infrastructure.  Ability to coordinate these activities remotely via remote hands services.
  • An understanding of computer science fundamentals and practical experience developing distributed systems.
  • A passion for automation and DevOps--blending operational excellence with development best practices.
  • Deep familiarity with Linux (CentOS/RHEL preferred), bash scripting, service configuration and management.
  • Proficiency with one or more programming languages.  Go, Ruby, Python are preferred.



  • Experience creating declarative APIs to manage physical infrastructure in a hybrid cloud environment.
  • Past development projects involving backend databases or interacting with other systems via API.
  • Experience providing infrastructure as a service leveraging configuration management tools such as Chef, Puppet, Ansible, CFEngine, etc.



This role will be remote, and ideally based in the central/eastern time zones in the USA.

  • The estimated pay range for this role, based in Colorado, is $79,408.00 - $124,784.00 
  • Additionally, this role is eligible to participate in Twilio's equity plan.

The successful candidate’s starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location within the state. This role is also eligible to participate in Twilio’s equity plan and for the following benefits: health care insurance, 401(k) retirement account, paid sick time, paid personal time off, paid parental leave.
