Twilio is looking for an Experience Engineer to join the Brand Experience team, which is a part of the Brand department in Twilio Marketing. The Brand Experience team charts the course for net-new programs at Twilio, focusing on high-impact magic moments that showcase the possibilities of building with Twilio. We are an ideas-led team that concepts, executes, and iterates experiences across channels and touchpoints to elevate the Twilio brand and inspire our customers! 

In this role, you will:

Drive the development of entire experiences. This is more than just writing code. Our team is planning, discussing, documenting, building, and supporting experiences that touch real Twilio customers and potential customers. These programs will be built to scale to handle millions of requests for users around the world. Because our programs are a representation of the Twilio Brand, the programs simultaneously need to inspire awe (Twilio Magic) and be a proven and stable representation of how Twilio apps should be built.

The work we do will naturally take you out of your comfort zone, because we’re usually creating things that have never existed before. We are drawing the owl. No two experiences will ever be the same; we improve our existing projects to showcase new Twilio products and features, and we constantly aim to find new ways to inspire developers. 

Partner directly with internal & external teams. While Brand Experience incubates new concepts, these ideas usually come to life in the programs our fellow Marketers lead. We partner closely with teams like Worldwide Field Marketing to build experiences that engage our audiences, but also fulfills program requirements as well. When partnering with stakeholders, you will be working directly with other teams inside Twilio, the Core Creative team inside Brand, and a network of vendors. Your role as an Experience Engineer will be to work with these teams to help drive the vision, and ensure the core idea is properly activated across the entire experience.

The work we do will naturally take you out of your comfort zone, because we’re usually creating things that have never existed before. You will need to rely on the fundamental skills of production and creatively apply them to each experience, since no two experiences will ever be the same.

Who?

We’re looking for a leader who lives the Twilio Magic and has:

  • Demonstrated ability building and supporting critical user-facing systems with modern Web technologies, including React and Node.js, as well as REST and GraphQL API design, and services development on at least one of the following stacks: Node.js, PHP, or Python
  • Experience with large systems and complex code bases as well as source code control systems such GitHub
  • Strong background in collaborating with web designers and product managers to plan and  realize complex and detailed designs for responsive web using CSS (“pixel-perfect”)
  • Proven track record to collaborate across teams and vendors, driving a singular vision and breaking down any communication barriers for the benefit of the program
  • Embraces an attitude of creative problem-solving. As plans change and new requirements arise, you’re able to meet those with a spirit of innovation.
  • Ability to translate complex concepts to audiences of different backgrounds and levels to gain alignment and investment
  • Strong writing skills. Working on different projects with various contract and vendor development teams, aiming to inspire use of Twilio products, it is important for us to document what we’re building. You’ll need the ability to coherently communicate how we designed each feature/property and how inspired developers can learn from our projects and build their own.

In accordance with applicable law, the following represents Twilio's reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation for this role if hired in Colorado. Please note that this information is provided for those hired in Colorado only, and this role is open to candidates outside of Colorado as well. 

Salary:

Denver/Boulder Metro:

Salary Range: $132,928 - $182,776

Rest of Colorado:

Salary Range: $116,312 - $159,929

Additionally, this role is eligible to participate in Twilio's equity plan.
