About the job

This position is needed to lead a team of talented engineers responsible for building Twilio Segment’s mobile libraries and SDKs team. You will be responsible for growing the team, working with engineers and product managers to develop and execute on the roadmap. You also need to work with other teams across the organization and be an advocate for mobile at Segment. 


In this role, you’ll:

  • You mentor and develop each employee to reach their full potential.
  • You show empathy for customers and can work with them to understand their need and solve their issues
  • You collaborate with different teams across the organization including Customer Support, Product, Go to Market, Sales, and Solution Engineering to deliver value to customers
  • You know how to source, recruit, hire and retain talented engineers.
  • You have a rare ability to collaborate with and influence diverse engineering teams to improve the reliability, scalability and durability of their services.
  • You give engineers the tools, confidence, and motivation to make decisions independently that lead to their personal and professional success.
  • You know how to manage multiple projects and balance support & development for your teams.

  • 3+ years of experience as an engineering leader of a healthy and high-performing engineering team
  • Experience managing an engineering team(s) on large-scale projects with technical deep-dives into code
  • Hands-on capability, and detailed knowledge of at least one of the following Mobile platforms: Android, iOS, or React Native 
  • Experience in leading cross-functional teams to deliver important business outcomes
  • Experience with capacity planning - drive an understanding of capacity needs based on our business drivers
  • Demonstrably effective communicator — in spoken and written forms
  • CS, EE or CE degree and/or a demonstrable, solid understanding of CS fundamentals


  • Previous experience as a Mobile software engineer
  • Previous experience working on open-source projects 


This role will be remote and open to the USA or Canada.

Approximately 5% travel is anticipated.

  • The estimated pay range for this role, based in Colorado, is $160,896 - $201,120
  • Additionally, this role is eligible to participate in Twilio's equity plan.

The successful candidate’s starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location within the state. This role is also eligible to participate in Twilio’s equity plan and for the following benefits: health care insurance, 401(k) retirement account, paid sick time, paid personal time off, paid parental leave.
