Senior Manager, Accounting Remote, North America

This role will be 100% remote based in the US. 

The General Ledger Accounting team are responsible for providing timely and accurate month end close financials, that are GAAP compliant.

Don’t have a ton of knowledge about GitLab yet? Don’t worry. We have an extensive onboarding and training program at GitLab and you will be provided with necessary DevOps and GitLab knowledge to fulfill your role.


  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP accounting requirements, including experience working with a technical accounting team on complex and non-routine transactions such as de-consolidation, restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, etc.
  • Tech public company and/or Big 4 experience is required
  • Work closely with the cross-functioning teams to align on accounting policies and operations
  • Continuous Process Improvement experience is required
  • Demonstrated ability to manage, lead change, and build new processes
  • Coaching and developing the accounting operations team
  • Work on process optimization and automation efforts to improve efficiency and effectiveness of our monthly close process and of our internal and external reporting requirements
  • Manage a timely and accurate month end close by reviewing various journal entries and account reconciliations for commissions, payroll, defined benefit plans (including foreign currency re-measurement and translation) and other various accounts.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives in Financial Close, Consolidation and Reporting areas and provide recommendations based on Financial Close & Consolidations leading practices
  • Review and/or prepare flux analysis for the month end that summarizes and tells the "story" of the activity.
  • Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404 key controls in the financial areas of responsibility, as applicable, and work with IA to update key controls as necessary
  • Implement new accounting policies and ensure those policies are communicated to a team as well as the business


  • 8-9 years experience with 2-3 years in public accounting
  • Have or actively pursuing CPA
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite and/or Google Docs and Sheets
  • Experience working with international subsidiaries, including statutory reporting requirements, strongly preferred
  • Flexible to meet changing priorities and the ability to prioritize workload to achieve on time accurate results
  • Detail-oriented, self-directed and able to effectively complete tasks with minimal supervision

The base salary range for this role’s listed level is currently $97,400 - $146,200 for Colorado residents and $97,400 - $198,300 for New York and New Jersey residents only. Grade level and salary ranges are determined through interviews and a review of education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant, equity with other team members, and alignment with market data. See more information on our benefits and equity. Sales roles are also eligible for incentive pay targeted at up to 100% of the offered base salary.
