Twilio is growing rapidly and seeking a Network Architect in our Network Development Engineering organization. In this position, you will be responsible for applying your expert-level knowledge and experience to develop the overall technology vision of the Twilio Global Super Network infrastructure. You will come together with internal partners to understand the needs of the business and apply this understanding to help define the systems, tools, and network requirements to achieve these goals in concert with peer organizations. Working closely with our vendors and within various standards bodies, you will seek opportunities for the continuing technology evolution of the Super Network ecosystem. In this position, you will play a key role in the vendor selection process and advise leadership accordingly, with an eye on building an extraordinary, highly efficient, and secure global network. Collaborating with the Director of Network Development Engineering, this position is critical in supporting Twilio’s growth efforts throughout the entire infrastructure lifecycle


Twilio is looking for a highly qualified network architect who lives the Twilio Magic and has shown success in defining the long-term vision for large scale data networks. They also have:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a network architecture role, preferably at a leading telecommunications company, defining long-term, highly impactful strategies that include system development and platform integration.
  • Expert-level knowledge in all areas of data networking, including Security, QoS, routing, and signaling protocols; e.g., BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, MPLS (RSVP-TE), AAA, SIP, SS7.
  • Expert-level knowledge of SD-WAN/SDN-WAN, particularly as it applies to CP/FP abstraction within large-scale WAN environments, and the integration of these technologies across legacy constructs; working knowledge of message bus and orchestration platforms; e.g., Kafka, Kubernetes
  • Experience working within various industry and standards bodies; e.g., IETF, IEEE, NANOG
  • Expert knowledge of defining and documenting complex technical solutions, and effectively communicating these concepts to highly varied audiences; e.g., product and software developers, sales personnel, leadership -including C-level executives.
  • Track record of successfully partnering with team members to define requirements and feature sets in a multi-vendor environment.  
  • Ability to work proactively with minimal direction in a fast-paced technical environment.
  • Ability to influence without authority (both horizontally and vertically) analytical talent and leadership to achieve the goals of the business.
  • The intellectual and emotional capacity to thrive and succeed in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent social skills; ability to articulate verbally and written.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or similar engineering field, or equivalent experience required. Master’s preferred.
  • This is a remote position based in the U.S.

The Super Network Infrastructure team is central to Twilio's continued growth. We work closely with senior leadership, carrier relations, BU’s and GTM teams to program manage company priorities. We lead all aspects of identifying, evaluating, and executing various strategic programs that drive inorganic growth and have a significant impact on the overall direction of the company.
