The Manager/Sr. Manager Consolidations and Financial reporting is a key member of the financial leadership team reporting to the Assistant Controller and is based in Washington, DC. Travel to the Company’s New York, NY office 1-2 times per quarter is a possibility for this role. The ideal candidate will be ready to join a fast-paced environment, lead change, and be excited to build scalable, controlled processes.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead the timely execution of accounting closing activities, including managing the monthly expense and consolidation close calendar, and preparing/reviewing journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Collaborate with the Revenue and Operational Accounting team members on their processes to understand how they impact the overall consolidation and monthly close process
  • Ensure balance sheet accounts for areas of responsibility are reconciled timely and reconciling items are resolved
  • Manage staff of 2-3 to ensure productivity and efficiency
  • Identify and build core competencies and assist career development of team through skill development, training, and exposure to new functional areas
  • Directly oversee areas such as fixed assets, stock based compensation, internal developed software capitalization, prepaid and expense accruals
  • Oversee the proper accounting treatment for non-routine transactions and areas with evolving complexity such as stock based compensation,  lease accounting, and internal developed software capitalization
  • Prepare and distribute all required financial reporting packages to our bank and investors
  • Support preparation of annual financial statements in accordance with US GAAP including footnote disclosures
  • Project manage the annual audit and GAAP financial statement preparation processes ensuring deadlines are met both internally and by our auditors
  • Oversee our IRS and state tax filings utilizing our external tax accounting firm
  • Manage regulatory reporting and submissions to various international, state and local governments, and research potential future requirements
  • Manage our periodic 409A valuation process internally and with our external valuation firm
  • Lead process improvement efforts related to areas of responsibility to ensure improved efficiency of the department's processes and support company growth while enhancing the internal control environment
  • Cultivate and maintain effective relationships within team and across departments
  • Work collaboratively with other members of finance to assist with expense forecast and variance explanations
  • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders, both verbally and in written communication
  • Exhibit flexibility and willingness to take on new responsibilities and assignments as needed

What you’ll bring:

  • Bachelor Degree (BA/BS); concentration in Accounting a plus
  • Minimum of five years of relevant experience in a complex accounting environment including experience directly managing the monthly close process and an accounting team
  • CPA certification
  • Experience preparing US GAAP financial statements, including footnote disclosures
  • Experience accounting for multiple domestic and international subsidiaries
  • Strong IT application skills – Expert-level Excel including extensive experience with pivot tables and VLOOKUPs
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work with all levels within an organization
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and have the ability to work under pressure while maintaining an emphasis on attention to detail, quality, and positivity
  • Self-motivation and desire to continually improve efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness of processes
  • Proficient in FinancialForce, Netsuite, or similar ERP

Bonus points for:

  • Experience working in emerging growth technology industries
  • Experience with financial system conversions and/or implementations
  • Experience with stock based compensation and equity transactions
