About the job

This position is needed to develop high-quality, Kotlin (and Java)  tutorials that teach developers everywhere how to build with Twilio. Especially those products better aligned with mobile such as Messaging. 

The Twilio blog has been experiencing exponential growth for the past two years, prompting hundreds of thousands of developers around the world to build with Twilio every month. To strengthen our coverage of existing and emerging technologies, Twilio is seeking a Kotlin Software Software Engineer of Technical Content who will contribute to the technical education of every developer who visits twilio.com/blog by creating high-quality tutorials.

Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll:

  • Collaborate with developers who do not work for Twilio to enable them to publish code-first, programming tutorials on the Twilio blog.

  • Write your own code tutorials and publish them on the Twilio website to keep your own programming skills sharp.

  • Make developers from our community the heroes of their own companies.

Required:

  • Has 4+ years experience in Kotlin or Java development.

  • Professional working experience in the JVM; Kotlin, Scala.

  • Can empathize with the joy of "It worked!" and the frustration of "why's it doing that?"

  • Loves to write clean code and uses it to clearly and concisely tell a great narrative to readers.

  • Enjoys working consistently each day rather than sporadically in fire-drill mode.

  • Has the self-motivation to proactively work with programmers that are writing tutorials rather than responding reactively to inbound tasks.

Desired:

  • TypeScript, NodeJS, or Javascript knowledge and experience using it either as a frontend, backend or full stack developer,

  • Strong understanding of RESTful API conventions,

Location 

This role will be remote and based in the USA.

  • The estimated pay range for this role, based in Colorado, is $145,520 - $200,090. 

  • Non-Sales: Additionally, this role is eligible to participate in Twilio's equity plan.

The successful candidate’s starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location within the state. This role is also eligible to participate in Twilio’s equity plan and for the following benefits: health care insurance, 401(k) retirement account, paid sick time, paid personal time off, paid parental leave.
