About the job

This position will be a key contributor to our legal team’s corporate and securities practice, including matters relating to public company reporting and corporate governance, ESG, investor relations, and M&A transactions.  Providing counsel and strategic guidance regarding disclosure requirements, 34 Act filings, proxy statements, and other matters related to SEC regulation will be central to the role.  Success in this role will also require building strong relationships with and becoming a trusted advisor to our Finance team, including Investor Relations, Accounting, and Treasury

Twilio’s legal team is rapidly growing and scaling to serve customers around the globe with increasingly sophisticated problems to solve. We assist the company in navigating the complex legal and regulatory environments in which our business is evolving, responsibly managing risk while facilitating growth and innovation. We’re looking for a stellar team member to join our Corporate team.

In this role, you’ll:

  • Advise on and direct legal matters relating to Securities, ESG, investor relations and M&A transactions;
  • Continue scaling our corporate processes and systems to keep pace with our company’s growth;
  • Work closely with stakeholders in our Finance organization, including Investor Relations, Accounting and Treasury;
  • Work cross-functionally across the business to ensure that risks are being managed intelligently; and
  • Support work with our Board of Directors and its committees.

Not all applicants will have skills that match a job description exactly. Twilio values diverse experiences in other industries, and we encourage everyone who meets the required qualifications to apply. While having “desired” qualifications make for a strong candidate, we encourage applicants with alternative experiences to also apply. If your career is just starting or hasn't followed a traditional path, don't let that stop you from considering Twilio. We are always looking for people who will bring something new to the table!

  • Minimum 12 years of relevant legal experience and 5+ years in-house in technology or a technology-adjacent industry with fast-moving corporate legal teams;
  • Corporate practice experience at a nationally recognized law firm;
  • Deep familiarity and demonstrated experience with SEC reporting, corporate governance, ESG, investor relations, corporate transactional matters, and M&A, and with managing each of these areas through significant organizational growth or transition;
  • High comfort level with a wide range of legal issues and subject matters;
  • Proven ability to effectively influence, lead, and collaborate with others at all levels;
  • High personal standards of excellence and ethics, as well as the ability to act with discretion, strict confidentiality, and sensitivity towards issues and individuals;
  • Public-company experience, including familiarity with public-company board and governance matters; and
  • Licensed and in good standing with a state bar.
