About YNAB remote jobs

Work that matters

YNAB is the best place to work, ever. (Don’t take our word for it! They voted!) We are intentional about creating an environment where everyone gets to do important work they love.

Culture

We have a team of truly awesome people and a culture that encourages the growth of every individual. We have one overarching requirement when it comes to joining our team: our Core Value Manifesto has to really click with you. If you’re nodding emphatically while reading it, you’ll probably really like it here!

Team meetups? Check! One time the Marketing team dressed up in random costume accessories and went to a fantasy roleplaying theme park where they joined the Pirate’s Guild, went on quests, and earned enough gold to sponsor the resident acting troupe. Because conference room presentations and trust fall exercises aren’t really our thing, you know?

Live where you want

We've always been a fully remote team. As long as you have a reliable internet connection, you’re good to travel or live wherever you’d like. Just promise you’ll share pictures and recommendations from your life of extravagant travel to exotic places!

No outrageous hours

We’ve adopted a four-day work week and rarely work more than that. There may be times where things get busy and people put some extra time in but then they take some extra time off, so it all balances out. We work hard but smart—we’re in this for the long haul.

Take vacation (seriously)

We have a minimum vacation policy of three weeks per year, and we will (kindly) bug you if you aren’t taking it. We also have a two-week company break every December. You’ll often see vacation photos posted in our internal chat room, creatively named #office-wall.

Meetups and the YNAB Retreat

We love remote work around here, but we also love getting together in person. Work-focused meetups with small teams help us connect and build camaraderie, while doing some very cool in-person work. And then there's our biennial company retreat... think Best Western conference room, PowerPoints for hours, and lots of personal finance talk. Just kidding. One year, we were in Costa Rica. Another time, we stayed at a dude ranch in Montana with an unforgettable trip to Yellowstone. We do really fun things, but the highlight always seems to be just hanging out. (And, if we’re being totally honest, board games.)

Benefits

Our team is spread all over the world—mostly in the United States, but also in the UK, Canada, Germany, Brazil, Mexico, and several other countries. Team members who live in the US or UK are set up as employees, and those who live in other countries set themselves up as independent contractors. You’re an equal part of the team no matter where you live.

Health, dental, and vision

For full-time employees in the U.S., we offer fantastic health, dental, and vision insurance, where we cover 100% of the premium for you and your family. No need to check your vision, you read that right—100%. (Although if you did need to check your vision, we’ve got you covered!)

Retirement savings

For full-time employees in the U.S., we have a Traditional and Roth 401(k) option. YNAB matches your contributions up to six percent, and the money is yours immediately. No vesting period. For U.K. employees, we contribute six percent to your pension.

Parental leave

We also offer generous paid parental leave for all full-time team members. (Here’s to increasing the world’s YNABers, one child at a time!)

Perks

If you ask our team about the benefits of working here, they’ll mention our great people, our culture, and our focus on work-life balance, but most of all, they’ll talk about how significant it is to work on a product that makes such a huge, positive difference in people’s lives.

Profit-share

We offer profit-shares twice a year—if YNAB wins, everybody wins.

Professional development

Everyone gets an annual stipend for professional development (and a separate one for books!).

Birthday gifts

We get ideas from your 50-item bucket list, your partner, your best friend, your mom, your manager...

Purpose

Turns out helping people reduce their financial stress makes working at YNAB really, really enjoyable.
