Description

Percona’s Support team is responsible for the performance and availability of our customers’ most critical systems.  As a Support Engineer, you will serve as part of our team’s front line, providing our customers with friendly, helpful and responsive service via chat, email and phone.  You will troubleshoot and resolve customer issues of varying complexity.  You will serve as a subject matter expert in at least two key service areas around Postgres, as an escalation point for complex issues, and a mentor for fellow team members.

The PostgreSQL Support Engineer is an individual who is focused on providing the highest quality technical support to our Percona customers. You’re the face of Percona to our support customers, and their success in achieving their goals, is your success.

  • Ownership of support tickets related to Postgres and associated technologies
  • Ensure incidents and problems are up-to-date
  • Ensure applicable technical and non-technical documentation is up-to-date
  • Contributing to the Percona blog and Help Center with both technical and thought leadership articles
  • Keep up to date with latest technology trends in the opensource/database arena

  • Ability to troubleshoot methodically, identifying and applying fixes for known errors, and when necessary, capacity to think outside of the box to resolve complex issues.

Minimum Required Qualifications:   

  • Good knowledge on PostgreSQL, including:
    • all aspects of configuration.
    • performance tuning, query optimization, & index tuning.
    • backup solutions
    • HA solutions
    • detailed understanding of monitoring requirements.
  • Demonstrable experience of administering Linux based systems

OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated ability to work well with people and communicate effectively both internally and with customers
  • Strong mentorship/coaching skills related to developing technical colleagues
  • Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner and gathers and analyzes complex information quickly
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn complex software
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal direction
  • Strong work ethic and entrepreneurial approach
  • Demonstrated ability to accept feedback from others
  • Communicates clearly and professionally to convey confidence even when under pressure
  • Experience in providing services to agreed SLA’s
  • Ability to pass required background check

Location:  Remote work from home position.  Working hours are within GMT time zone.  

HQ is in Raleigh, NC.  Staff members should be available if there is a need for any onsite trainings and/or events at any time.
